Sharing the Beauty in my Life
I have studied for a while the way Beauty touches hearts and now I want to share it with you who read this. It is a topic that I find easy and good to speak of. Here I will present three questions and how I answer them. If you will, I encourage you to think about them yourself. I have by no means exhausted the endless paths of Beauty here, nor have I learned all there is to know about it, but I want to give the little I have to you here.
Why is it that Beauty cuts us to the heart?
I believe this piercing aspect of Beauty is because no one can deny it. That sunset
was beautiful and no one can say otherwise. Some people have other opinions, but I will hold to mine. Beauty is a language everyone knows, every heart has been touched by it, hidden and disguised as it may be. Though beauty takes so many forms, it usually holds the same emotions and gives a deep wish for the moment to go on forever. I am touched by so many forms of Beauty, all of them united in the way they penetrate to the heart.
What does Beauty do in a heart?
This question is answered differently by different people. Some people burst into tears, others become silent, I personally am revived by it. The startling nature of Beauty, surprising us by springing up out of the mundane, makes my heart stand still and rest in the moment. Perhaps it is that pathway beneath the falling leaves of trees in the chill of autumn, perhaps it is the sun glistening off the ice and snow in winter, regardless of where it is, Beauty revives me and carries my mind away from the burdens of my day.
Beauty gives me the urge to keep going, inspiring me to strive for more in life.
How do I see Beauty around me?
I said before, Beauty strikes me in many different ways. Of course Art in all its forms has always resonated with my heart, but there is another part of my life where I find much Beauty: people.
I climbed a mountain and basked in that Beauty. Then I sat around a campfire with many other people, sharing in the happy laughter and conversations. The latter was the one that stuck in my heart in a special way.
To encounter these people in truth was to see other human hearts that could share with me emotions and thoughts from the day. That was where my heart was at rest. There is no doubt in my mind that the mountain was beautiful, majestic really, but without the company which I enjoyed it would not have been as fulfilling to my heart seeking that true beauty in the human person.
The Simplicity of Beauty
A final thought I want to place in this entry is concerning the simplicity of Beauty. In nature, where I am often touched by Beauty, I have yet to see something beautiful that asks for attention. I think of everything I have ever gazed at, and I can tell you that none of the glories I see are doing it for attention.
The stars will twinkle all night whether looked at or not.
The river will continue to flow, regardless of who is watching it.
The birds will sing when only they will hear the song.
I think that's why I find it so very refreshing to get back to nature and the beauty held there. A flower isn't going to argue with you that it is the most beautiful. The world of nature knows that it is what it was made to be. It can just be that without worry of impressing others. It can be simple and beautiful all at once
But we are impressed.
That lily doesn't ask for attention, but it receives it. If we take nature's advice, we could all live much more simply and become so much happier!
Closing
I hope you will continue to journey with me through this blog and I will share with you the ways in which Beauty touches me. I have given a short sample of what I have experienced in the study of Beauty, and I hope you also may become passionate about it! There are so many ways in my every day that Beauty comes to me and I will be very happy to share them with you.
Keep your eyes open to Beauty and I assure you, it will be clear to you!
